Back Home from New York

Traci and I are very tired and glad to be home but we had a great time picking up the new engine and parts! We drove nearly 4000 miles in 4 days.

The engine turned out to be an awesome piece of equipment and the owners (Marc and Joe Caruso) were awesome. They are such honest and nice people!

I also got the meet the engine builder (Mike Janis) who was an incredibly nice and smart guy. Mike tore the engine down so I could inspect it and so it would fit in my pickup under the bed cover.

I trusted Mike so much that I left my Kobelco blower with him (the one I bought last year) to modify and make it a world class blower capable of 3.70 eight mile horsepower. He will bring my blower back to me when he comes to the race at Royal Purple Raceway in April (He races professionally in the ProMod class). He is also modifying the injector hat to inject extra fuel in the hat to cool the incoming air charge. He said it would be worth 100-200 horsepower.

Here are a bunch of pictures of the new engine and parts. The engine is machined out of billet aluminum and is a work of art! I made a package deal and got the engine, 2 spare sets of pistons, a set of extra rods, 3 speed billet B&J transmission (indestructible), 2 torque converter (matched to the engine/tranny combo, a magneto, spare belts, pulleys, flywheel, spare rocker arms, etc, etc, etc.

I got a great package to go really fast. The engine tranny combo has run a 3.70 at 198 mph in the 1/8th mile!!!

New Powerplant

Folks,

Drum roll please..........

Those of you that read my blog know how long I have been working on making my racing dream happen with all of the setbacks in the last 3 years. A major step forward for running the "Black Hole" is under way as we speak. Today I turned 57 years old and my wife Traci has purchased me an all billet Alan Johnson Hemi engine with Brad Anderson 8 heads!!!!

We are sitting in a hotel in Lancaster, New York waiting to pick it up at Mike Janis' race shop. The engine belonged to a veteran ProMod racer named Marc Caruso. It was a spare engine of his and now it is going to go into My 63 Vette ProMod.

I will have to completely refit everything including the headers but it will now be a serious ProMod capable of going fast.

The Chevy engine will be put back together as a blown gas engine (the way I built it for the boat) and I will put it into my dragster so I can go faster in it when I am ready.

I have wanted a first class Hemi engine for a long time and thanks to my Sunshine, in 24 hours, I will have one in the back of my truck and head back to Houston.

I can't wait to get started putting it together!
