Folks,
It has been a long time since I have done any updates. It has been a crazy year and a lot of people will want to forget it!
Traci and I have been very busy this year trying to get everything moved into our forever home and sell all of the properties in Magnolia. As of this Friday, everything is sold and all of our stuff is put away in our new house in Livingston. We are so happy here and so is Dad. We basically put our life on hold while we got it all done.
The Covid thing has been a blessing for us in a way because we have been able to work from home and save 4 hours a day of driving time. That time has helped us to get it all done. We are so blessed that our business has eabled us to do that. Our business partner Joe has been getting us ready for these kind of scenarios and we were ahead of the game when it comes to remote working. Thanks to Joe for that!
We have not done any drag racing this year and we have missed it a lot. I h ave been working some on both cars to get them ready to race some day (probably next year). I have been taking my time and doing projects on each one. The Black Hole has gone on a diet and has been given a new heart (Digital ignition system).
The Blue Banana has been torn apart and I am rebuilding the engine and transmission completely. I will probably redo all of the wiring to update the controls while I have everything apart.
Now for the exciting part!
Over the past 3 years, we have become good friends with the Janis
family and we have been getting more and more involved with them and
their racing operation. The Janis family are 3 time NHRA World champions
in ProMod and are one of the most respected names in that circle. 2020
presented some challenges to them and many other racers because of the
crazy scheduling/rescheduling because of Covid. Their primary sponsor
was a little shaky and they were looking for alternate ways to fund the
remainder of the 2020 season. They came up with the idea of a message on
their car that most people interested in racing would be excited about
and funding the operation by selling multiple spots on the car's new
scheme to keep them going.
Traci, myself, our business, and another business associate were able to scrape together some funds to help them finish the season. They finished strong and we had a ball being involved. If you look closely at the car you will see our logo for Axis (our business) and Luke 1:37 racing (our racing entity) on the door of their car. They are just awesome people and we were so glad we could help out. I can’t wait to see what they do next year!
As 2020 winds down, we feel so blessed to have accomplished so much in 2020:
- We moved into our forever home
- We sold all of our properties that we owned and even made money on most of them
- I finally got a CNC lathe and mill for the shop
- We got a kick ass pontoon boat that will hold our whole family
- We participated in a bona-fide professional racing operation
- We had a successful business year and were able to pay our forever home completely off
